COOL THRIFT FIND
One thing you need to know about me is that I love second-hand shopping. I am on a student budget and most of the time, I don’t how to optimise my money hehe (Deliveroo and Uber Eats my worst enemies lol😬). One day I went thrifting in Paris. I wasn't looking for something in particular, and I came across this wonderful oversized suede shearling jacket from Schott! Schott's jackets are usually super expensive (more than 300 euros) and I got it for 20euros???? It still remains my best thrift find ever!
When things go wrong, what is my solution?
When things go bad I sell it! Ordering online is so convenient, however, sometimes sizing is tricky! I remember ordering this oversized (yes, again, I guess this is my brand 🤣) leather jacket from an Australian shop. I never ordered on this website before so, I had no reference! When it came, it was way too big on me! I was kinda angry because the return policy was complicated and costly...So I decided to sell it on depop! This jacket was super popular a the time! And one girl in Ireland was looking for it for ages, therefore, when she saw that I was selling it, she was so excited and even said that she will pay more for it! I loved the fact that I turned my bad luck into a good one!
Moral of the story: Thrift Stores ALWAYS have cool stuff + keep trying to find a way to give your clothes a second life!! xx
Omg I love this!! Thanks so much for sharing Keziah☺💜 I swear to god I have such little luck in thrift shops so I'm always interested to hear about everyone else's stories hahah. & bless that girl who even offered more on the black jacket!! wow that was really was sweet of her. Let's go thrifting some time when lockdown's over?! x
yesssss i am down 💜💜💜💜
During the first lockdown I started to teach myself to use a sewing machine. (the only one we had was one my mum got for her 16th birthday) I started off by making facemasks from old fabric we had laying around. Then I managed to get some off cut fabrics to start making my own clothes, along with adapting clothes I already had. I’m still learning what I’m doing and I’m far away from making anything I could sell but it’s a new skill I’ve learnt and it’s been fun! Also is a great distraction from whats going on in the world!
This is one of the first tops I made, it’s not perfect but its still hanging in my wardrobe and I still wear it now.
Love us a new lockdown hobbie!! Even though being indoors sucks, it's actually so good we have this "extra" time to learn new crafts - the top looks fab and fits you so well😍 how did you learn? was it youtube and stuff? x
Thanks! 😊 My mum taught me the basics then just experimented and learnt from the many mistakes I made! 😂
@Hannah Cook hahah aw bless!! what can mums not do?! 😭💖
One of my favourite go-to jacket is from my father (that he thrifted 40 years ago :D
DAMNN WHAT A GEM💎
This is a very simple shirt i got from a second-hand shop, is so simple and comfortable, i got it for very low price. And then what i love the most is i did a little bit design on the shirt, I added a few strings to the waist to connect the both sides of the shirt so that it would look slimmer and unique. I always wear this when i don't know what to wear on that day and it so matching with other any pieces in my wardrobe hhahah.
This is so cute!! I actually have a similar oversized shirt like this but striped and the tie at the waist is defo a game changer 😍you gotta do a "different ways to style a shirt" some time keke
Found this amazing long vintage leather coat at Non Stop Vintage, Shoreditch in December. Hands down one of my favourite vintage finds😍. The white thread details along the collar was what caught my eye. Such a unique piece and this is what I like about thrifting- it brings me out of my comfort zone as I'm always wearing all black (in fact this is the only colour coat I own ). I had been on the look out for a long coat like this for ages ( Rachel from Friends made me want one) and I know I will be wearing it non-stop when the weather gets a little warmer. For now, I've literally been wearing it around the house and on my grocery trip to Sainsbury's 😂.
This will look so good with a black mini skirt and high boots 😍
@KEKE agreeeed! its rare to even see white stitching on an outerwear piece like this?! 😯Look at Sabina catching a new man in Sainsburys soon 👀
@KEKE Gonna try that when I have the confidence😂
@CHELSEA hahaha I wisssh..
I love being able to up-cycle and repurpose clothes into something else to give it another life, to avoid it from going into waste and customize it more to my liking. For instance, in this gif I customized my ripped tights into sleeves for this cropped top.
Noooo waaay is that tights?!?! Girl this is GENIUS😍😍
My favourite hand-me-downs are a pair of small gold hoop earrings that my grandma gave to me a few months before she passed away. It was the last time I saw her, and she was doing a massive clearing out and gifted both my sister and I (who were staying with her at the time) several pieces of jewellery including these earrings. They're super simple and have been in the family for decades, and go with every outfit. I'm extra grateful because after she passed, it was discovered that my grandma's carer had made off with most of her valuables, so these are my main last tie to her
Oh wow... that's bittersweet. I don't know if it's just me, but I've always seen jewellery as one of the most sentimental categories out of all fashion items... it's crazy how much memory and emotions can come from a single piece 😌
